While on break it was great. Like Sarah, I went home. I do not live that far away but it was still great to be home. I really needed the time away from farmville and it was the start of hunting season ,so I got to go hunting all weekend. Luckily for me all my midterms were before break. Which was great so I could get them out the way before break. Also i like that so i could be more focused on them while i am at home i just want to chill out and enjoy the time with my family. After coming back from break it was good to see my roommates. We all decided to go play a round of golf when we all came back from break. Although, we all do not wanna do anything like the dishes since we did not have to do any at home, that is the one thing I think that has changed since break. My experiences at a small school at Longwood have been great and they are different from Sarah’s bigger school experience. Like my english class has 17 people in it compared to sarah’s huge lecture class. For me I am not drifting away from my friends from back home. I went to a private school and I found a close group of friends and we all did not want to be that friend group that breaks up after college. Actually my best friend from high school comes down from radford and stays here when he goes home for the weekend sometimes. WHile over break we all got together at one of our houses that we always used to hangout at and talked about how college was going grade wise and everything that has happened while at college.

  1. Dear Daniel,
I’m so glad to hear that you had such a fantastic break! It sounds like you really made the most of your time away. I too had a wonderful break, filled with moments I’ll hold close for a long time. While I didn’t go hunting, I spent quality time with my friends from home, which was definitely the highlight. We caught up on everything from sharing stories to work to talking about the mundane and eventually just enjoying each other’s company. It felt refreshing to be in each other’s presence after being away for so long.
One of the most sweet moments was seeing my mom again. I gave her the biggest hug, and it felt comforting to just be near her, I missed her a lot. I also had the fortune of seeing all of my pets and plants still alive, unlike poor Sarah. I understand you want to leave Farmville for a bit; sometimes a change of background is just what we need to recharge. Personally, I really enjoy being here; it has a charm that keeps me down to earth and happy.
I have to say, I also really like my roommate! When we returned from our breaks, we spent hours just talking and hanging out. Our conversations flow so easily, and it’s nice to have someone who understands me who I haven’t been friends with for years! That said, I’m not a huge fan of golf, though I know it’s popular. I enjoy activities that are a bit less golf involved!
Being part of a smaller college is something I really looked for which was a big reason I chose Longwood. My biggest class has only about 20 students. I can only read about how different things must be for Sarah at her school and be so glad that’s me!
I do wish I wasn’t drifting from my friends as much as I seem to be lately. Life pulls us in different directions, but I’m trying to appreciate the new changes that life has planned out for me! It’s wonderful to hear that you and your best friend from high school are still going strong. I’ve been lucky in that regard, too! I had a similar experience to yours, while it was at the beach. I was with some of the most amazing people, laughing as the wind kicked up sand and the waves created delightful sounds. While I loved visiting family, I almost enjoyed being away a bit more, there’s something so unique about it.
