Letter to my future self
Dear Shelby, I hope you absolutely love your time here at Longwood. Being a transfer, it is probably harder to get used to things at a bigger school. I hope you were not afraid to ask questions and get the help you need if it was necessary regarding classes and work. I can only guess your experience has not been easy. There will always be little things that pop up here and there that seem like a big deal but end up being part of how you learn your way around and gain experience. No matter what you go through there will always be bumps in the road, but that does not mean they were not worth the trouble and time. Everything happens for a reason, but I am sure you know that, especially after these college years. Making new friends has never been easy for you but I know that you will start to come out of your shell after changing schools and put yourself out there. Do not forget to do things for fun. Sometimes you need a break after all that schoolwork. Such as all of the Longwood traditions like Oktoberfest, color wars, oozeball, and so much more. I also hope you get all your important things done too. Major classes, internships, and your dream job. Keep yourself organized when it comes to scheduling so you can get all of your classes done and maybe have some time to take some not–so–important classes. Never forget to be available for those who are available for you. Those are the people that by now I am sure have stuck by your side. Treat them well and make lifelong friendships. I am starting a journey of the “best years of my life,” or at least that is what everyone calls it. When I get to the point where you are at, I can look back and confidently know that I did everything I could to make it such. Please hold me to it.
