Mickey Schwerner was an American civil rights activist. Mickey Schwerner was one of the three men that worked for CORE which stands for Congress of Racial Equality. He disappeared in Philadelphia, Mississippi. The three men knew it was dangerous, but they felt as if they needed too. It was dangerous for them because the Ku Klux Klan was also located in Mississippi. The KKK had more than 10,000 members. The KKK was motivated to use violence to fight the Civil Rights movement. The three men were arrested because they were seen in the CORE vehicle. Michael Schwerner’s death date was June 21, 1964. His spouses name was Rita Schwerner Bender. He died in Neshoba, Mississippi.
Andy Goodman was also an American civil rights activist. He was also one of the three men that was murdered during Freedom Summer. They were murdered by members of the KKK. Andy Goodman’s death date was in June 21, 1964. He was only in his twenties when unfortunately his life was cut short. He had a wife named Nena Manach. He did also have three daughters as well.
James Chaney was also an American activist. James Chaney was one of the three men working for CORE that got murdered by the KKK. His death date was also June 21, 1964. All three of these men did not deserve to have their life cut so soon like it did.
I would want to fight for what I believe in and stand up for what I believe in. I also would take inconsideration if I have a family or not. Although, I believe you should stand up for what you believe in but also I don’t think it would be worth it leaving your family. It would also put a lot on the family.

  1. When reading your post I felt that it was very organized, also I felt like you dated out different events in a timeline manner. With having all of your dates and locations of events, I felt that it helped me stay on track with what I was reading. After reading your post it seemed like you totally were interested in what you were reading. The reason I say that is because you were very in depth with talking about how the KKK was a huge problem around this time and you also gave decent descriptions on each of the CORE members. I also liked how you were able to explain the reasons of death and talk about how young they were. Next, I felt very pulled in with your post because you added different URLs to back up your topic. When having supporting details and ideas I felt like your point got across more and helped me understand more about the situation. I felt very comfortable reading this because I was able to picture these events very well to understand how hard it was actually living back then. Your post made me realize that life today has really improved. Even though life isn’t going to always be fair, I realized how grateful I am to be where I am at right now. Your post made me understand that I should be comfortable and also stand up more for what I want and love. Overall, you made very good points. I hope that others can read about your post and understand that we shouldn’t hate people just because of how they look. We should love each other no matter what. The more people realize that they’re needed will help others realize that there’s hope in you no matter where you came from.

  2. To start off my response, I liked that you have provided information about three civil rights and what they did during that time and what they were involved in. It was interesting that you had the death dates of the activists, and they were all the same date that made it more interesting for me. It made it interesting too that all of these activists were involved in the Ku Klux Klan and were murdered by them, and it was interesting that you had Mickey Schwerner spouse, and where he died in Mississippi and that were the KKK was located. For Andy Goodman I didn’t know he died in his twenties, and this happened in Mississippi and that he was murdered during Freedom Summer, and I also didn’t know he had a wife and three daughters. For James Chaney, I realized you barley had any info about him so that made me curious if there was any information about him at all. I agree with you and what you believe in, I would do the same even I would take inconsideration if I had a family or not too. I agree with you too that you should stand up for what you believe in. I think your post touches people about what happened to those men and with the Ku Klux Klan and it will make people look back it at and would change there perspectives and changed my perspective a little bit because i forgot all of this happened back then and it made me remember it and made me start thinking about all that happened. I also don’t think it would be worth leaving your family and It would definitely put a lot on anyone’s family even yours/mine. Your references are great for the use of this because I know two of them are news channels those definitely helps even the core one.
