March book 2 freedom

In March book two, it talks about the freedom riders and everything that they had to endure and go through. The book talks about how the freedom riders were in Tennessee and had made their way down to Alabama. The riders had to face mobs and threats from many people when they got off the bus. The thing I noticed is how much the riders fought to prove and protest and demonstrate their beliefs. The riders showed so much restraint which is something I definitely could not do, and the things they had to endure and hate they received was atrocious. The riders had drawn a huge crowd after they arrived in Birmingham Alabama on a greyhound bus, the public safety director broke up the mob and the chances of something bad happening to the riders.

The movements in today are very large, and heavily impacted by social media. Social media especially apps and sites like Instagram, twitter, Facebook etc. make it easy to get posts and news to go around in a short amount of time. Different cases and situations that are seen and posted to social media that sparks anger in many, and happens almost everyday. The unjust uses of force and mistreatment of citizens and the news behind it are so rapid because of social media and news. People today are very strong willed in their beliefs today, I know I am, and people today fight for what they believe in. I think that most people today would fight for the same things that people did back in the civil rights movements and vise versa with the black lives matter movements today. There is unfortunately a need to protest for people’s basic rights, and it’s all because people in positions of power who use it for the wrong purposes. Society is now more than ever to help fight for justice for those who deserve it, and I think that is amazing and part of why I think that people today would fight for the same rights as others did 60-70 years ago.
