Poetry Zine Examples

I found examples of poetry zines. The attributes that make this a zine is all of my examples have a nice cover too it that explains what their zine is about and who it’s from. I think they made it from the paper they were supplied with, and they use sharpies to write the title in a poem font and way Just like in this image .I found another example of a poetry zine and the attributes they used were looked. I like this Zine because it helps for people that want to make a poem zine to see the cover and help them figure out what type of cover page works for their type of poem they use.

liked fabric in the background and use two smaller boxes for the writing. On the left boxes they used an actual picture with a quote next to it saying “WHAT THE MAN IN THE MOON DOESN’T KNOW”. The type of media I think they used was the picture of an actual person to make feel like that quote belongs to them. I think this Zine example was great because if you want to use poetry this is an example you can use so you can figure out if you use images you can see were you could possible add them.

I would love to make a Zine about my passion of lacrosse. On my pages I might add some of the history of the sport and have pages of me when I played lacrosse in high school, and I will talk about how I progressed playing over the years and the positions I’ve played up to this year. I could put some of the rules and all of the positions of lacrosse and tell you guys about how many players can be on the field at once.

Examining The Zine

For this post, I began looking for a zine and stumbled across a mini zine that is very short and very simple. However, it is aesthetically pleasing and still gets its message across. I found this zine to be very interesting to me because it was different than the zines we have been looking at. It is a small book, composed of only 8 pages with a minimal number of words, which makes it a zine!

To make this zine, I think the author, Austin Kleon, took small pieces of black paper and put them together. He then used different images and pasted them on the pages to go with the text, which was also written on different pieces of paper and then glued on the pages. He used the photos, which were faces, in a unique way. He shaped them around the text. The text was also written on white paper which stands out against the black background. He left out any extra colors or text that simply weren’t needed or wouldn’t go with the theme. It is simple, but very clean and aesthetic.

Personally, I like how clean this zine is. Some that I saw were cluttered and almost too much. This is pleasing to the eye and with the limited amount of text, you are able to understand it more without getting distracted. Compared to other zines, I like this style a lot more. The author also related this zine to advice he had gotten in life, so the zine was personal to him which I appreciated. He stated that “he thought the advice and the zine spoke to each other.”

For my zine, I want to focus on my major, Recreational Therapy. I want to keep it as organized as possible so I can avoid that cluttered look, but I do want to make it fun and colorful, because I feel that fits my topic. I want to introduce the major, explain what we do, and then further explain why I am pursing the major. After looking at other zines and seeing that you can honestly do whatever you want, I am more excited to start my own.

Zine Idea

After looking on the internet for things that I am passionate about, I came across Zine’s involving tattoos. The picture that is linked at the bottom of this post shows the Zine I looked at. This Zine in particular looks very professional yet is still considered a Zine even though it was made digitally. This example shows attributes of a Zine because it shows pictures of tattoos while also providing information about the history of tattoos, the science behind tattoos, and what you should do when you consider getting your first tattoo. I think that this Zine was made completely digitally because the text in the Zine does not look like handwriting and the pictures do not look like they were drawn. Even though it was made digitally, it is still on folded paper for people to hold. As far as what media this artist used, I am not entirely sure what this question is asking. However, this was posted on a website called “Behance”. Something that I noticed at the top of the website was an Adobe Creative Cloud logo. After I clicked on it, I figured that maybe this Zine that I was looking at was created using Adobe Creative Cloud. To make a Zine by hand, you would get however many pieces of paper you want, usually two to three and fold them in half. You have to make sure that you put the papers in order stacked on top of each other for it to be correct. After this, you make the cover page first and add information with pictures throughout your Zine. On the last page, you put your references for where you got your pictures and information from. If you couldn’t tell from what I wrote above, I plan on doing a Zine about tattoos. As someone who got my first tattoo almost a year ago, I was not planning on getting any more. My mom had told me once you get one, you will want more and I didn’t believe her. Now that I have a tattoo, I believe her because I definitely want more. Lastly, the reason why I am so passionate about them is because I believe every tattoo has meaning. I do not plan on getting random tattoos but only tattoos that I can look at and remember the meaning behind why I got it permanently on my body.
